A marmot, who comes and goes from the hut of an alpine herdsman's family, and who makes itself comfortable in the feather pillow on the canopy during the summer. A horse, who teaches its rider a lesson in self-confidence. The ugly bald ibis, who conquers the heart of a bird hunter with its inner beauty. Jürgen Teipel has collected touching, bizarre and astonishing stories, all of which show what distinctive personalities animals have and how close they are to us in their feelings. Grief and pain, love and jealousy, fear and courage exist in them just as they do in us humans. No wonder that we perceive them as life companions and allies, or even as lucky charms.
