Irmgard Lucht, 1937 in Bonn geboren, machte zunächst eine Ausbildung als Erzieherin, war 1957 als Volontärin in der Kostümabteilung der Städtischen Bühnen Frankfurt tätig und studierte anschließend bis zu ihrer Heirat 1961 an den Werkkunstschulen Köln Freie Grafik und Malerei. Die Geburt der beiden Kinder führte zu einer Malpause von sieben Jahren.

Irmgard Lucht, born in Bonn in 1937, first trained as an educator, then worked as a trainee in the costume department of the Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt in 1957, and subsequently studied graphic design and painting at the Werkkunstschulen in Cologne until her marriage in 1961. The birth of her two children led to a break from painting for seven years.
